Depression is IN

Well, ok, I'm still struggling a bit with spring depression (thank god that we have depression syndroms for all seasons, otherwise I would be a total freak ;), the weather is still unstable, but more and more sun is peeping through the moody clouds... Well, I wouldn't call it a classic depression attack, it's just that I'm more in the introverted phase, spending lots of time alone, doing my own stuff and very carefully choosing people who don't have vampire inclinations to spend some (but not too much ;) time with, which means a very few of them ;).

Today, I read in one female magazine that depression is a new trend among fashion designers, filmmakers and celebrities. Inspired with all sorts of disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes, apocalypse 2012, global crysis and stock market crash, famous people around the world are not trying to hide tears in their eyes (or at least trying to look very, very sad), to show how deeply emotional and compassionate they are, because "who needs happiness, it's so superficial!". In this new trend of weltschmerz, fashion campaigns are showing to us the picture of sad, "deeply emotional" girl, like Miu Miu's one:

...or campaign by a designer Vanessa Bruno, with actress Kate Bosworth in the main role, who is trying VERY hard to prove that she is NOT superficial, by looking sad and melancholic:

What surprised me even more, people go even further by organizing depression parties, where they strictly listen sadest songs in the world. In London, for instance, there's even a night-club called "Feeling Gloomy", where they play only, well, gloomy music.

A certain Pascal Monfort, a fashion sociologist (well, that's a nice profession, why we haven't inveted it here, there would be much less people unemployed), is very annoyed with "all this happiness, it's all unnatural and, above all, disgusting. Only a dumb man can be happy all the time (well, there's a certain truth in it), while sadness is, on the contrary, deep and wonderful feeling."....

What to say? Seems that human race became so bored that it needs to invent souch trends.. So, if you want to be in, just become depressed.

For me, the happy girl is still the prettiest girl. And I think my depression is just a plain PMS.

  5. Ma joj, ne znam, valjda ljudi misle kako će na taj način svijetu poručiti kako nisu površni, a ispadaju upravo takvi..
