Dark Pearls of the Forest

Iako ovdašnje temperature to ne pokazuju i iako sam provela pravi ljetni vikend na obali (o tome više u sljedećem postu), jesen je ipak stigla, a s njom i moji omiljeni - kesteni.

Kesteni, po mojim kriterijima, spadaju u kategoriju delikatese, međutim ono što mi je u cijeloj priči najdraže, jest upravo činjenica, što u današnjem svijetu genetskih modifikacija, permutacija i ostalih iživljavanja konzervansima, aditivima, kemijama i inim otrovima, još uvijek mogu otići u šumu, ubrati ove sjajne plodove, pripremiti ih i pojesti, a sve to bez ijedne unešene štetne tvari i potpuno besplatno. Cijelo to iskustvo, kojim ujedno odajem  počast i svojim prapretkinjama, sakupljačicama hrane ;), svrstavam u red sitnih luksuza i čistog užitka!

Although the temperatures here are not showing it and although I spent a real summer weekend on the coast (more about this in my next post), the autumn is still here and with it my favourite - chestnuts!

Chestnuts belong in the category of delicacies, according to my humble criteria, but the most favourite thing in the story about chestnuts is the fact, that in today's world of genetic modifications, permutations and other  sadistic treatments with preservatives, toxic additives and chemical compounds, I am still able to go to the forest, pick this great food, prepare and eat it, and all this without any toxic substance and completely free.

All this experience of honouring my ancestors, food gatherers,  I  categorize as a small luxury and pure joy!

  1. I love chestnuts. You know it's autumn when you walk through the streets and there's that smell of roasted chestnuts in the air. :)

  2. Definitely, but the weather here seems a little bit funny, the temperatures are around 25-30 C, unusually high for this time of year, so you get slightly confused, when swimming in sweat, you suddenly smell roasted chestnuts :)

  3. prapretkinjama?:))))) Klinke i ja ih skupljamo po šumi otkad one znaju za sebe al evo ti jedna info ukoliko ju ne znaš. U slastičarni na tržnici ima kesten pirea za kupiti na kile po nevjerovatnih 35 kn i zaliha im traje do božića svake godine. Neka zabava sa kolačima počne!!!!!
